Jeremy Harrell joins GraceStory Podcast to share his story of coming to Christ, fighting for the USA overseas, and what coming home looked like for him as a veteran who eventually was found to have both PTSD and traumatic brain injury. Jeremy is not one to let a diagnosis keep him on the sidelines. Jeremy founded Veteran’s Club INC, which is a premier nonprofit that assists Veterans in healing from PTSD, TBI, Substance Abuse, and to assist homeless Veterans with housing and programs to get them back on their feet. Jeremy helps to lead the organization as they provide Connection, Healing, Recovery, Housing Assistance, and Vocational Training to the Veteran and First Responder Community.

Jon shares what is was like to eventually face his perpetrator later on in life who had never changed their behavior and to confront them with the truth even as they actively denied reality. Jon has a heart for young people and believes that his experiences have helped him to be able to effectively help others on their own journeys of restoration.

Dr. Katariina Rosenblatt, LLM, PhD, is living proof of the promise she heard long ago at a Billy Graham crusade that God would never forsake her. Katariina has a PhD in conflict analysis and resolution and works closely with law enforcement agencies, such as the FBI to eliminate human slavery. She founded There Is Hope for Me, a nonprofit organization dedicated to freeing other victims of human trafficking. She is also the author of Stolen: The True Story of a Sex Trafficking Survivor.

The book "is the story of God’s sustaining grace and a missionary couple’s confidence in the presence, purposes and goodness of God as they traveled the long journey of grief after the tragic death of their daughter."

Dr. David Jones joins the GraceStory Podcast to introduce the B-Well Model. Before his career change to a counselor educator, Dr. Jones worked as an epidemiologist for over a decade. Through these experiences he is able to build a bridge between professional counseling and public health, all through a Christian Worldview. Dr. Jones’ walks us through the integration of the B-Well Model into current secular mental health therapies and how the model goes well beyond the counselor office.
The six facets of the Biblical Wellness model (B-Well) are Heart, Mind, Strength, Soul, Neighbor, and Society.
- The heart is the seat of our emotions. We note the times we are sad, angry, joyful, peaceful, etc.
- The Mind is our thinking. It is how we perceive and make judgments of self, others, and the world. The thoughts can be helpful or hurtful.
- The Strength facet is our biological, physiological, and behaviors. Here you can look for how healthy you are, or do you experience a chronic illness or are healthy physically. Do you engage in avoidance (e.g., sleep to escape reality).
- Next is the soul, this is the place where the earthly and spiritual realms intersect. It is a reminder to evaluate your spiritual life (healthy or unhealthy aspects) as well as other spiritual influences outside of self.
- The neighbor facet asks you to examine your interpersonal relationships. How is your relationship with your spouse, kids, friends, church members, etc?
- Finally, Society is more distal influences. They may not be directly noted but may be indirect influences. These may be concerns such as discrimination based on sex, race, social-economic status, disease/ disorder (e.g., some people may experience stigma by society for their condition) or this can be societal influences that are positive such as acceptance of religion freedom, safe neighborhoods, healthy foods are available.
